Students enrolled in a regular study program
You are a student enrolled in a regular study program (preparatory year, certificate, minor, major, bachelor's degree, graduate diploma (DESS), master's degree, doctorate...).
You must upload the following to your Centre étudiant (Student Centre) :
- Your certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ) valid for the entire term and corresponding to your current level of study (cycle d’étude).
Please note that the information on the CAQ must be consistent with your program of study. For example, if you’re enrolled in an undergraduate program, your CAQ must be issued for the undergraduate level.
Students enrolled in two regular study programs of different levels
You are simultaneously enrolled in programs of varying levels of study (undergraduate and masters levels or masters and PhD levels).
You must upload the following to your Centre étudiant (Student Centre) :
- Your hybrid certificat d’acceptation du Québec (CAQ), also referred to as the double-level CAQ, which is valid for the duration of the current term and accurately indicates your two current levels of study.
Please note that the information on the CAQ must be consistent with your program of study. For example, if you’re enrolled in an undergraduate program, your CAQ must be issued for the undergraduate level.
Students enrolled in an exchange program for 6 months or more
You are a student enrolled in an exchange program for 6 months or more.
Students enrolled in a study program for 6 months or less
You are a student enrolled in a study program for 6 months or less.
You must upload the following to your Centre étudiant (Student Centre) :
· Your certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) if you have one.
· Proof that your study program lasts less than 6 months (e.g.: letter of admission to your exchange program mentioning the length of your stay).
Enrolled students exempt from the CAQ
You are a student exempt from the Certificat d'acceptation du Québec
You must upload the following to your Centre étudiant (Student Centre):
- Your certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) if you have one.
- A letter confirming your status as a beneficiary of the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) International Scholarships Program, if applicable.
- If you are exempt because you have obtained a work permit authorizing you to study under the temporary public policy for foreign workers (PIPT), please complete and upload this form.
- Proof that the duration of your study program is 6 months or less, i.e., a letter of admission to independent studies or an exchange program indicating the length of the stay.
Please note that for independent studies, you can only be enrolled in courses for one term while being exempt from providing a CAQ. Following that term, to enroll in additional courses, you must request and obtain a CAQ and a study permit. |
We recommend that you start your application process at least 5 months before your documents expire. It takes 2 to 3 months to obtain a Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) and it takes a long time to renew a study permit. We recommend applying for your new CAQ at least 3 months before your current CAQ expires and that you always submit your application for a study permit before your current one expires.
